About "da Vinci Xi"
"da Vinci" is the name of surgical system "endoscopic surgery assist robot (medical equipment)". Surgery where doctor perform the surgery with an assistance of surgery assist robot is called as Robot Assist Surgery. Robot assist surgery is not a robot performing surgery, but doctor performs a surgery with maneuvering a robot.
Robot Assist Surgery
Robot Surgery does not mean that a robot itself performs surgery automatically. Synchronizing to the movement of doctor maneuvering console lever, robot arm itself performs the surgery. It is a remote controlled surgery machine. With the help of 3D screen or no jiggling hands, doctor is able to perform surgery accurately and safely.
"da Vinci" functions and characteristics
1. Low impact to patient body
Skin incision area is as small as possible, cut area is 8 to 12mm enough for inserting forceps to abdominal site. Bleeding amount is also less so that it is excellent for functional preservation of nurves. Hospitalization period becomes shorter as well.
2.Clear images (3D high-vision system)
Doctor maneuvering surgeon console monitor screen displays 3D surgery image in high image quality. Zooming function (max. 10 times) is able to detect affected part at expanded sight view, so that much more accurate surgery is possible.
3. Replicate precision movement
Operator (doctor) maneuves robot arm attached forceps or surgical knife from the surgeon console. Operator's hand movement is replicated real time as the movement of forceps edge to performs precision surgery. "da Vinci" forceps, which has more flexible movement compared with adominoscope, consists with 3 parts. Each one performs a role of human arm, hand wrist and fingars. They pinch, cut, suture precisely and finely synchronized with operator's hand movement.
